Jessica Cantrell, DVM, PhD, cVMA
Dr. Jessica Cantrell graduated from Arizona State University with her BS in Microbiology then attended graduate school at the University of Arizona, and received her PhD in Cancer Biology. After graduate school, she received her DVM from Colorado State University. During veterinary school she became certified in large, small and exotic animal Veterinary Medical Acupuncture, and in Botanical/Herbal Medicine.
After graduating from veterinary school, she started a small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego. After her internship, she began working at a local veterinary hospital in Encinitas, which provided her with the opportunity to expand her clinical knowledge of integrative therapies including acupuncture, herbal medicine, and physical therapy. Additionally, Dr. Cantrell was most recently working with Specialty and Emergency Veterinary Hospitals in San Diego as a small animal emergency veterinarian.
Dr. Cantrell, founded “Sit. Stay. Heal. In-Home Integrative Veterinary Medicine” to provide our community with the healing effects of acupuncture, herbal medicine and physical therapy to small, large and exotic animals. Her specific interests are pain management, enhancing mobility, and to integrate Eastern Medicine with Western Medicine. All the while strengthening the human animal bond, and have fun in order to make a difference in the lives of patients and clients.
When she is not healing patients, Dr. Cantrell spends her time taking long walks on the beach with her hound dogs, Moose and Bear; surfing, playing beach volleyball and mountain bike riding.
